Ryan Katz

Associate

Ryan Katz graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He has spent much of his life hearing about important gun law issues and learning how to navigate the criminal justice system. Self-defense law has always been a part of Ryan’s life, whether it was hearing about gun issues at the dinner table, attending US Law Shield seminars on self-defense laws, or meeting Florida gun owners for more than the last ten years. He is thrilled to now teach these seminars around the state. Combining his passion and lifelong involvement in the firearms community with his law school education has given Ryan the perfect career in Second Amendment and Self-Defense law. Although recently licensed, Ryan has more training and experience in this area than most attorneys have in 30-year careers. Ryan has received specialized training in the following critical areas of self-defense and gun law:

  • Gun Shot Residue
  • Blood Spatter Evidence
  • DNA analysis
  • Effects of high-stress encounters on memory recall
  • Evaluating use of force decision making
  • Assessing imminent threats
  • Human performance and the use of force

Ryan is currently a contributing author to Florida Gun Law: Armed and Educated, 4th Edition which will be published later this year. Further, Ryan spends much of every day answering questions from Florida gun owners to keep them on the right side of the law and handles complex self-defense and firearms cases.
